Offices up for election in 2020

You must first file an Appointment of Campaign Treasurer. Judicial Candidates Form / Non-Judicial Candidates Form

You may also wish to complete a Code of Fair Campaign Practices form.

Filings due to the Bastrop County Elections Department should be filed using our online filing system.
 
Please contact the Texas Ethics Commission to determine who the filling authority is for the office you intent to run. 
 

Application for A Place on the Primary Ballot is filed with the political party of your choice.

Filing dates: November 9, 2019-December 9, 2019 (6 p.m. deadline).

Important 2020 Election Dates:
Primary Early Voting: February 18, 2020- February 28, 2020
Primary Election Day: March 3, 2020
Primary Runoff Early Voting: May 18, 2020-May 22, 2020
Primary Runoff Election Day: May 26, 2020
General Election Early Voting: October 19, 2020-October 30, 2020
General Election Day: November 3, 2020

Information on Running for a Local Office:

Requirements for local offices (municipalities, school districts, other districts) in Texas vary according to the political subdivision. Therefore, you must contact the political subdivision where you are interested in running for office for qualification requirements, filing periods and other relevant information. At a minimum, you will be required to file an application for place on the ballot with your political subdivision.  For additional information visit the Texas Secretary of State’s Local Election Candidate Information Page.
